Designed for a family returning to Australia, this home was created to support the way they wanted to live—bringing together generous family spaces, effortless entertaining and a strong connection to the beautiful outlook across Currumbin Creek.

When I joined the project, the architectural plans by Jayson Pate Designs had already established a strong foundation for the home. Together, the homeowner and I worked collaboratively to develop the interiors—refining the layout, selecting materials, designing custom joinery and layering the details that would ultimately shape how the home looked, felt and functioned for the family.

From our very first conversations, it was clear this wasn't going to be a home that played it safe. The client had a genuine appreciation for design and wasn't afraid to explore bold ideas, thoughtful details and materials with real personality. It made the design process incredibly collaborative, with inspiration continuing to evolve through supplier visits, material selections and conversations throughout the build.

Some of my favourite moments include selecting the striking Verde Alpi natural stone that became a defining feature of the home, designing the custom Jack and Jill bathroom with floating mirrors, and seeing confident choices like the green concrete bath come together so beautifully. Each decision was considered not in isolation, but as part of a cohesive vision for the home.

While every project has its own aesthetic, my focus is always the same: understanding how my clients want to live, then designing an environment that quietly supports that lifestyle. In this home, that meant creating spaces that felt welcoming, practical and beautifully resolved, while giving every member of the family a place to connect, unwind and simply enjoy being home.

Looking back, this project is a wonderful example of what can happen when trust, collaboration and thoughtful design come together. The result is a home that feels personal, timeless and completely reflective of the family who lives there.
